Breather does not collect anything. There is no account, no sign-up, and no server. Nothing you do in this app is transmitted anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to go.
Everything. Specifically:
midnight and never leaves the device.
None of this is uploaded, backed up to us, shared, sold, or analyzed. We have no technical means of reading it. If you uninstall Breather, it is gone.
Breather requests internet access for a single reason: the Google Play Billing library needs it to check whether you have an active purchase, and to complete one if you make it. That connection goes to Google Play and carries no personal data from us. Nothing about the apps you pause, your counts, or your settings is ever sent over it.
If you never buy anything, the app still works completely offline.
Breather asks for a small number of permissions. Each has one purpose.
Usage access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS) Lets Breather see which app has just come to the foreground, so it can show the pause screen before that app. It reads only the name of the app in front — never its contents. This information is used on the spot and is not stored beyond the daily counter described above.
Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) Lets Breather draw the pause screen on top of the app you opened. Without it the pause screen cannot appear at all.
Ignore battery optimization Lets the watcher keep running. Without it the system puts Breather to sleep and pausing silently stops working.
Notifications Android requires an ongoing notification whenever an app runs a foreground service. That notification is the only thing Breather posts.
Activity recognition, if you enable step-based unlocking Reads your step count from the device sensor so a walk can lift a pause. Steps are read on the device and are never uploaded.
Breather offers an optional subscription and a one-time purchase. These are handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your name, card, or billing address. Google tells the app one thing only: whether a purchase is active.
Google's handling of that transaction is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Breather is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from anyone, of any age.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will appear at this address with a new date at the top. Since the app collects nothing, any change is likely to be a clarification rather than a new practice.
